Description
The Toyota 2UZ-FE is a 4.7-liter V8 petrol/gasoline engine from Toyota’s UZ engine family. It was developed particularly for large SUVs and trucks and became one of Toyota’s well-known V8 engines for the Land Cruiser 100, later appearing in the Land Cruiser 200 in some markets.
Toyota describes the 2UZ-FE as a 32-valve, 4.7-liter DOHC V8 developed specifically for SUV applications, with electronic throttle control and a focus on torque, durability and quiet operation.
The Land Cruiser 100 is one of the most important applications of the 2UZ-FE.
Toyota introduced the Land Cruiser 100 in 1998, with the UZJ100 wagon using the 4,663 cc 2UZ-FE V8. The representative Japanese-market specification produced 235 PS at 4,800 rpm.
For a representative Land Cruiser 100 specification:
- Engine: 2UZ-FE
- Displacement: 4,663 cc
- Power: 235 PS @ 4,800 rpm
- Torque: approximately 434 Nm
- Transmission: 4-speed automatic initially
- Drive: Full-time 4WD
Toyota subsequently replaced the 4-speed automatic with a 5-speed automatic in August 2002 in the Japanese-market Land Cruiser 100.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8 is a 4,663/4,664 cc naturally aspirated DOHC 32-valve V8 petrol engine built with a cast-iron block and aluminum heads. Its 94 × 84 mm bore and stroke, strong low/mid-range torque and robust construction made it particularly well suited to the Land Cruiser’s heavy-duty 4WD, towing and off-road applications. Early versions produced around 235 PS and 434 Nm, while later VVT-i versions reached 288 PS in the Japanese Land Cruiser 200.
