Description
The Toyota 2E is a 1,295 cc (1.3-liter) naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol/gasoline engine from Toyota’s E-series engine family. It is an older, mechanically simple engine that was widely used in the Toyota Corolla and other compact Toyota models during the 1980s and 1990s.
The output varies according to the exact version, market, emissions equipment and vehicle.
A commonly quoted standard 2E specification is approximately:
- Maximum power: 65–73 hp
- Maximum torque: approximately 100–105 Nm
- Maximum power speed: around 6,000 rpm
- Naturally aspirated
Some Toyota applications produced approximately 73 PS (72 hp), while lower-output versions were rated around 65 PS.

The Toyota Corolla 1.3L 2E is a 1,295 cc naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine with an OHV/pushrod 12-valve design and carburetor fuel system. Its 73.0 × 77.4 mm bore and stroke, simple mechanical construction and timing-belt drive made it a practical engine for older Corolla, Starlet, Tercel and related Toyota models.
