Description
The Toyota 4Y is a 2.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol/gasoline inline-four engine from Toyota’s Y-series. It was developed primarily for commercial and utility vehicles such as the Toyota HiAce, HiAce Regius, Dyna, ToyoAce, and other market-specific applications.
The fuel-injected version is commonly identified as the 4Y-E / 4Y-EFI, depending on market and application. It should not be confused with the carbureted 4Y.

The Toyota 4Y EFI 2.2L is a 2,237 cc naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with a cast-iron block, aluminum SOHC 8-valve cylinder head, electronic fuel injection and timing chain. It was designed primarily for Toyota’s commercial vans, light trucks and utility vehicles, where durability, simple maintenance and reliable low-to-mid-range performance are more important than high horsepower.
