Description
The Toyota 5L is a 2,986 cc (approximately 3.0-liter) naturally aspirated diesel engine from Toyota’s long-running L-series. It is a 4-cylinder, SOHC, 8-valve, mechanically injected diesel designed primarily for durability, simplicity and commercial/utility applications.
The 5L is closely related to the earlier 2L 2.4L and 3L 2.8L engines, but uses a larger bore and is the largest naturally aspirated member of this particular L-series family. Toyota used it in vehicles including the Hilux, HiAce, Kijang/Condor, Dyna/Toyoace and Crown Comfort in various markets. Published Toyota specifications commonly put output around 89–91 PS (66–67 kW) and 192–197 Nm, depending on application and rating standard.
